What is two-phase immersion cooling (2PIC)?
2PIC is the next generation of immersion cooling technology. These systems consist of a sealed-off tank where computing devices are submerged in a pool of dielectric fluid. As the devices heat up, the fluid boils into gas, which then rises, cools, and condenses back into liquid. The cooled liquid then returns to the bottom of the container, where it can absorb more heat.
How does 2PIC benefit Bitcoin mining operations?
MARA’s 2PIC system sets a new standard for data centers, significantly benefiting Bitcoin mining operations by providing a compact and modular design that slashes data center space requirements. It provides exceptional power density, allowing for more power within the same area. The system boosts performance and enables substantial overclocking of ASIC miners. The 2PIC system is heat recapture ready and uses high-temperature water for heat exchange. Moreover, the 2PIC system also achieves a higher energy efficiency than air-cooled or single-phase immersions systems, requiring 80% less energy for cooling overhead. Additionally, the system supports remote management for streamlined, low-maintenance operations.
What differentiates MARA 2PIC from alternative two-phase immersion cooling solutions?
While other companies have launched two-phase immersion cooling systems in the past, our 2PIC system contains several new patent-pending innovations. We use a fluid with a higher boiling point, which provides a more effective cooling solution. This design, coupled with our fluid of choice, enables ASIC miners to be overclocked to significantly higher hash rates. For example, XP miners can be overclocked by 100% and up to 50% with minimal change in J/TH. Alternatively, it allows Auradine miners to be packed more densely into the 2PIC system, generating a higher hash rate in a small form factor.
